“If” by Adrian McColgin
May 21, 2025
On this street,
if you listen hard enough
when it’s rainy outside
you can hear the storm clouds
whispering their fearless stories to you.
On this street,
if you watch hard enough,
when it’s night outside
you can see the light
on the other side of the world.
On this street
if you’re patient enough,
you can see the sun fall in the East
On this street
if you’re worthy of heart,
you can walk up the old, creaky steps
that lead up to the old, grey house
and if you close your eyes hard enough
you can see the old man smiling
because of the calm energy on this street.
My street.
