Writers in the Schools

Open a New Window
A Virtual Fundraiser for Writers in the Schools
September 22-24

Thank you for helping us Open a New Window for WITS in our virtual back-to-school fundraiser from September 22-24! We surpassed our $100,000 goal to inspire over 3,000 K-12 students at 22 public schools and Seattle Children’s Hospital this school year to tell their unique stories, work through the difficult emotions they’re facing now, and develop essential writing skills that will support them throughout their lives. We salute our WITS Writers, our WITS students, and all our generous WITS donors! We truly couldn’t do this work without you. If you haven’t had a chance to donate, it’s not too late! We’d still love your help to support students this year!

Individual Giving

SAL counts on supporters like you to help us bring our community together – people of all ages and backgrounds – to read and write, to listen deeply, and to bring forward the voices we all need to hear. Sixty percent of our annual revenue comes from charitable donations. Please join us to power another year of inspiration, conversation, and community.

Institutional Giving

Generous support from corporate sponsors, foundations, and public entities makes it possible for SAL to bring people of all ages and backgrounds together for transformative literary arts experiences. Learn more about becoming a corporate sponsor today.

Words Matter Reimagined

Thank you for helping SAL raise almost $300,000 at Words Matter Virtual Gala!

Your generous support is helping SAL bring powerful writers, poets and storytellers to Seattle stages and classrooms—and online to homes here and across the country—to inspire delight and deeper insight, to spark engaging conversations and civic engagement, and to build greater connection among us at this critical moment in time.

Please save the date for next year’s Words Matter on Friday, April 23, 2021, when we hope to gather together again at the Four Seasons.
