Thank you to everyone who gathered together to celebrate SAL’s 30th Anniversary at Words Matter! Thanks to your remarkable generosity, together we raised $318,534 to fuel inspiration, conversation, and community. It was truly a gift to come together to toast our 2018 Prowda Literary Champions – the intrepid journalist Mary Ann Gwinn, and the visionary founders of the Seattle Review of Books, Paul Constant, Martin McClellan, and their editor Dawn McCarra Bass – and to celebrate WITS student Selome Daniel Girma. Thank you for your amazing support!
Words Matter is SAL’s most important fundraising event of the year, raising nearly $300,000 to inspire people of all generations and backgrounds in our community with the change-making power of words. The evening includes:
*an elegant multi-course dinner with wine
*silent and live auctions featuring unexpected literary treasures and adventures
*a joyful celebration of the 2018 Prowda Literary Award winners–Mary Ann Gwinn and The Seattle Review of Books
…all set against the spectacular backdrop of the glittering Seattle waterfront.
Funds raised at Words Matter will support SAL’s Writers in the School Program and help bring the best writers and thinkers of our time to Seattle while offering free and highly subsidized tickets to students and other community members who otherwise could not afford to participate.
