CAT seeks to address the systemic inequalities of class in our culture–it allows folks who are priced out of our lowest seating levels ($10-$20) to have the chance to take part in SAL.
We don’t require proof of financial instability to apply; we recognize that proof can be a barrier to access. That being said, we ask that you think honestly about your level of access to resources.
To help you think deeply, here are some guiding statements about economic marginalization. If one or more of the following statements applies to you, that might indicate that you are a good fit for our CAT program:
I am unemployed or underemployed.
I frequently stress about meeting basic needs (like food, housing, and transportation), and I don’t always achieve those needs.
I have debt that prevents me from meeting basic needs.
I have unstable housing, or rent lower-end properties.
I qualify for government assistance, such as food stamps or healthcare.
I have no, or very limited, expendable income (examples of expendable items: movie tickets, books, lattes, dinner out).
I rarely buy new items or experiences because I am unable to afford them.
To submit a CAT application, simply fill out the required fields in the form here, and select all of the SAL events you would like to be considered for.
Approximately two weeks before each event, SAL staff will randomly draw from the pool of applicants, and the ticket recipients will be notified via email, or by text message if preferred. Ticket recipients will have 48 hours to confirm their attendance.
Tickets will be delivered by email.
There is a limit of one entry per person. Each ticket recipient can enter for either one or two General-level tickets.
Almost event in our 2020/21 Season will have a $10 ticket, unless that level is sold-out. (See individual events for more specific details.)
We offer $7 tickets to students of any age, or those who are 25 and under, to all of our events.
For teens, day-of tickets are also available for free through TeenTix (and companion tickets for adults are $5) by emailing the box office at email@example.com.
Depending on seating capacity, we are able to offer between 10 – 20 CAT tickets per event; your probability of getting CAT tickets depends on the number of applications we receive. The application selection is randomized by computer, and the order of entry has no effect on your chances of receiving tickets.
No; all events available for tickets through CAT are listed on the application form, and there is no limit to the number of events you can apply to. That being said, please only apply to events you know you would be available to attend.
Yes! When you fill out the CAT application, you will have the option to select either one or two tickets if you’d like to bring a companion.
