SAL/ON

A Blog of Seattle Arts & Lectures

Welcome, Grace Rajendran!

Meet Grace Rajendran, SAL’s new Marketing Manager! You may already know Grace from her deep involvement with the book community in Seattle, where she most recently coordinated events at University Book Store.

To help you get to know Grace and to welcome her to the team, we asked her about her background, her hobbies, her fun piece of movie memorabilia, and more—read on.

You’re SAL’s Marketing Manager. What does that really mean? What do you do all day?

As Marketing Manager, I get to help share SAL’s incredible stories with the world! On a typical day, I may be meeting with our media or community partners, working on blog posts, press releases, and newsletters, and creating social media content. I’m also constantly asking my coworkers to tell me what they’re currently excited about and to send me photos of the books they’re reading so that I can share those things with our community.

What’s on your desk?

On my desk, you’ll find a Hobonichi Planner, a Lamy Fountain Pen, and a model of Bruce (the shark from JAWS) signed by Richard Dreyfuss.

Where are you from?

I was born in India, spent my childhood in Barbados, and my college years in Trinidad & Tobago.

When you’re not working, you can be found…

When I’m not working, I am usually creating art, volunteering with the Seattle Audubon Society where I serve on the Board of Directors, or visiting stationery shops and bookstores. I’m passionate about books and spend a lot of time writing reviews, participating in and leading book clubs, and occasionally moderating author events around town.

What’s your ideal Sunday?

Since I’m usually doing so many things during the week, an ideal Sunday would be a lazy one, spent at home, with delicious food, a fun movie, and plenty of time to daydream.

Welcome to the team, Grace!
