Five Questions: Mickee Cheung, SAL’s Donor Relations Associate

Meet Mickee Cheung, SAL’s brand new Donor Relations Associate! To introduce her to the SAL community, we asked Mickee five questions, so read on for all the intel about her new role on SAL’s development team, her hobbies, and which SAL events she’s loved in the past…

Welcome to the team! Can you tell us a little about your role at SAL?

Thank you so much! I’m the Donor Relations Associate, which means I get to engage community members in our mission to share stories and language with everyone! A typical day might include drafting an impact story, gathering quotes from our speakers, and thanking our sponsors and supporters for their generosity.

What’s on your desk?

On my desk, I have a succulent in an adorable ox planter given to me by Alicia! It’s perfect for me because I was born in the year of the ox! I also have a bunch of notepads, sticky notes, snail mail stationery, and lots of colorful pens.

What are some of your favorite things to do outside of work?

Cuddling my cat-like dog, Andy, looking for the best eats around town, and browsing the shelves of indie bookstores. (I’m a 3-time Seattle Indie Bookstore Day Champion!)

What have been some of your favorite SAL events?

I can’t choose just one! Some of my favorite events include Kaveh Akbar, Solmaz Sharif, Paisley Rekdal, and Danez Smith! I love the many layers of connection and conversation that always arise from the music, the young poets’ readings, and the thoughtful Q&As afterwards!

Which emoji best represents you?

The scorpio sign—because I’m a scorpio!

Thank you, Mickee!
