Event & Corporate Giving Manager

As SAL’s Event & Corporate Giving Manager, I help connect and nurture our community of guests, donors, corporate partners, vendors—basically everyone who makes our events possible. I also get to throw some great parties including patron and donor receptions, the WITS Back-to-School Luncheon, and Words Matter Fundraising Gala in the spring. I grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota but since then I’ve moved around a lot. I’ve lived in Boston, Istanbul, London, San Francisco, Missoula, and Vancouver. When I was a kid, I read through The Chronicles of Narnia one week when I had the chicken pox and was relieved to be transported through the wardrobe. And I remember going through a big Louis L’Amour phase. I wanted to roam the hills under the open sky just like (or with) those handsome Sackett Brothers. Before I came to SAL, I hosted poetry readings on Russian Icebreakers, planned farm-to-table dinners, escorted National Geographic explorers on trips, sought out speakers for travel events, sold wine to chefs, studied history, mothered two kids, stared at the sky, wrote and gathered poetry, and went road-tripping as often as possible. When I’m not at the SAL office, I can be found browsing at my library branch, hiking in the forest, zip lining at the playground with my kids, cooking in the kitchen with my husband, or curled up on my porch theme-reading for my next trip.
