Lee Soper
2014 Prowda Award Winner
Lee Soper, one of the founders of the Pacific NW Book Sellers Association, was the powerhouse who led University Book Store to become a community-focused bookseller that championed local writers. He served for years on the board of UW Press and nurtured the careers of many writers, as well as numerous others in publishing and bookselling. His work helped establish the culture that has made Seattle the literary-loving city we know today, and he was a key advisor for Sherry Prowda when she launched Seattle Arts & Lectures’ first season in 1988.
