Director of Education (she/her)

I’m the Director of Education at SAL, which means I get to work with the incredible WITS team, WITS writers, teachers and schools, and with the Youth Poet Laureate program to serve public schools throughout the Puget Sound Region by bringing professional creative writers to classrooms for extended creative writing residencies. My favorite book as a kid was Matilda by Roald Dahl. It was so transgressively funny, and Matilda was so strong willed, clever, and kind. It showed how a young heroine could use her mind to take some control of her surroundings as she navigated an unstable world. When I’m not at SAL, I can be found outside with friends, at the Puget Sound Goat Rescue, planning events with the Seattle-Rekjavik Sister Cities, or partaking in Seattle’s many arts and culture offerings. On my desk, you might find: mementos from the Camino de Santiago and the Mütter Museum, a ceramic pickle, a tiny snow globe of Seattle hero Dina Martina, a small picture of my grandfather wearing a colander as a helmet, and a miniature farm animal diorama given to me by the WITS writers.
