Summer Book Bingo

A free, county-wide summer reading program for adults and kids.

Since 2015, we’ve partnered every summer with The Seattle Public Library—and now, King County Library System as well!—to put on Summer Book Bingo, a free summer reading program.

From May – September, adults and kids play Book Bingo to prioritize reading, connect with community, and be entered for the chance to win fabulous prizes. In 2025, 2,855 adult and teen cards were turned in, with 845 of those cards being blackouts. We received 144 kids cards with 106 blackouts. (What’s a blackout? When you read 24 books in one summer!)

We hear from readers of all ages how this program strengthens relationships—how participants use Summer Book Bingo to connect with family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and beyond—and how this program encourages people to expand their reading horizons by reading across genres and lived experiences.

We look forward to reading with you this summer!

Reading all of these books was exhilarating. I immersed myself in diverse worlds, each with unique perspectives, which expanded my horizons and deepened my appreciation for storytelling.Summer Book Bingo Player
I love the community around [Summer Book Bingo]. I have friends that I play with every year, and love asking other people what I should be reading for certain categories.Summer Book Bingo Player

How to Play

What are the rules?

Keep track of books you read from Thursday, May 21 through Tuesday, September 8, 2026 by writing the title and author in the matching square.

Book titles may be used only once per card, and only one entry per person.

There are two ways to win:

BINGO: Complete a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line! Turn in your card and you’ll be entered into a drawing for a commemorative tote bag (for adults) or a gift card (for kids and teens).

BLACKOUT: Complete all 25 squares! Turn in your card and you’ll be entered in a drawing for one of three grand prizes—including a 4-Part Create Your Own Series to SAL’s 2026/27 programming.

How do I submit my card for the prize drawing?
