In 2015, SAL and the award committee chose Ron Sher, Robert Sindelar, and Michael Coy of Third Place Books for their extraordinary commitment to creating community around books, and for bringing bookstores to neighborhoods around our region. From Lake Forest Park to Ravenna to their newly-announced store to come in Seward Park, the team at Third Place Books intentionally creates community around books, creating, as their website says, “fun, comfortable, and safe places to browse, linger, lounge, relax, read, eat, laugh, play, talk, listen, and just watch the world go by.”

“It’s an honor to be chosen for the Prowda Literary Champion Award, especially by such a pillar of the local book scene as Seattle Arts & Lectures,” said Robert Sindelar, managing partner at Third Place Books. “The Seattle book community is truly unique in how the various literary organizations in the city (bookstores, libraries, lecture series, writing schools, authors etc) all really work so cooperatively together and build each other up and support one another.
