Alison Stagner
Director of Events & Outreach (she/her)
I’m originally from St. Louis, MO, and ironically went from the state that’s “the gateway to the west” to just about as far west as I could go in the continental U.S.—I miss the cicadas, the cattails, and the brick rowhouses of Benton Park, but not the baseball. My favorite book as a kid was Heidi—probably because I was fascinated with the oddities of tiny mountain towns, the restorative powers of goat’s milk, and how the heck you make a perfect crown braid. When I’m not at SAL, I can be found running, sweating, and cursing all over the city, writing, playing with my dog, or making my very patient husband embark on backpacking trips. My ideal Sunday, if I’m allowed to zig-zag impossibly through Seattle traffic, is: breakfast tamales at the Ballard Farmer’s Market, trail running through Discovery Park, hand-pulled Szechuan noodles in the I.D., kayaking along the Arboretum, and a nighttime art walk in Georgetown. My personal motto is: “Descend into the particulars.”
