Behind the scenes at SAL is a corps of dedicated volunteers who contribute their time to ensure we meet our mission of cultivating transformative experiences through story and language with readers and writers of all generations. We have a host of areas to get involved in, from ushering at our events, to assisting with mailings and other administrative tasks, to working on our annual fundraising events.
Benefits of volunteering:
- Volunteers receive complimentary admission to events.
- Volunteers will connect to a community of imaginative thinkers, readers, and writers.
- All volunteers are invited to attend the season reveal party and appreciation events we host.
We currently have the following positions open:
Event volunteers work as ushers, box office assistants, ticket scanners, information table assistants and more. They support the effective running of events by welcoming, serving, and monitoring the audiences that enter our venues. This role puts you on the front lines of the literary world in Seattle!
Office & Administrative Volunteers:
These volunteers help with a variety of projects: everything from file management, operations, data entry, bulk mailing, auction donations, and more. Regular office hours are Mon-Fri, 9 am-5 pm.
Writers in the Schools Volunteers:
Writers in the Schools (WITS) program places professional local writers in public elementary, middle, and high school classrooms, empowering young people to discover and develop their authentic writing and performance voices. We are looking for volunteers to help behind the scenes in the office. Regular office hours are Mon-Fri, 9-5 pm.
Fundraising Event Volunteers:
Help SAL make their Words Matter Gala and the Writers in the Schools Fundraiser successful by working at these inspiring and fun events.
