Faces of SAL: Hendri Wa

We’re delighted to introduce you to Hendri Wa, SAL’s new Administrative Associate! You might already know Hendri from his wonderful work in the box office, his smiling face at the front desk of the SAL office, or from performances in many dance projects around town!

To help you get to know Hendri, we asked about his favorite books, personal motto, and the whimsy we all need.

What do you work on here at SAL?
I support the administrative and financial operations of the organization for Executive Director, Finance & Operations Director, Board of Directors and all the staff. And make sure there’s always coffee in the office.

What was your favorite book as a kid (and why)?
The Five series by Enid Blyton—Those books helped me learn English as a third language, and instilled in me a sense of adventure and creative problem-solving nature that still drive me to these days.

What’s on your desk?
Googly eyes finger puppet, beach rocks and a shell from my recent travel to Spain and Portugal, a glass of water, and more random stuff.

When you’re not working, you can be found. . .
. . .on a hiking trail, in a campsite, in a park, on a lake, dance studio, or on a couch.

What emoji best represents you (and why)?
Red Balloon—because we all need a little whimsy in life and text.

What’s your ideal Sunday?
Doing something different than the Sunday before. I thrive on variety. So either hiking to lakes or mountains, rehearsing or performing, playing with kiddo, witnessing a performance, relaxing by the water, or all together in a day.

What’s your personal motto?
“Try anything once”—actually that’s my Ma’s motto that I keep to heart dearly.

Thank you, Hendri! Welcome aboard!
