Candace Barron

Candace specializes in PR strategy. Under her former byline, Candace Heckman, she wrote and edited for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer newspaper until it ceased operations in 2009.

The first time Candace was hooked on reading for pleasure was a “choose your own adventure” reading series in the 3rd Grade—she loved being able to create her own stories and conclusions. One of the most influential English teachers in her life was Professor Gerald Jordan at the University of Arkansas. He taught her the importance of reporting as a real person, how to write to communicate, and how to have confidence in her own observations. Candance’s favorite genres of writing include science fiction and fantasy because they’re truly rigorous forms of creativity.

A former executive board member for the Asian American Journalists Association, Candace has a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Arkansas and a Master’s in Strategic Public Relations from the George Washington University.
