Bryan Cranston Bryan Cranston SUN, OCT 16, 2016, 7:30 PM Benaroya Hall \ S. Mark Taper Foundation Auditorium

This event is part of the Sherman Alexie Loves Series.

The format will be a reading by Cranston and a conversation between him and Sherman Alexie followed by a Q& A.

This series is in partnership with novelist, poet, and playwright Sherman Alexie. He has published 25 books, including The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven (1993), The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian (2007), and War Dances (2009). His most recent work is a children's book called Thunder Boy Jr.

This event includes Cranston's book A Life in Parts.

"In Hollywood, where everyone routinely calls everyone else a genius, the praise Cranston inspires is remarkably fervent. It borders on envy, not just of his talent but of his expansive approach to life."                        —Tad Friend, The New Yorker

"Cranston is, after all, something of a national icon himself […] the sort of actor about which people say 'he can do anything.'"—Mary McNamara, the Los Angeles Times

"The foundation of an actor’s work is observation, which is a real art form. You take in human behavior and file it away, knowing that at some future point you’ll pull it out and use that experience."                                —Bryan Cranston

Bryan Cranston won four Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of Walter White in AMC’s Breaking Bad. He holds the honor of being the first actor in a cable series, and the second lead actor in the history of the Emmy Awards, to receive three consecutive wins. In 2014, he won a Tony Award for his role as Lyndon B. Johnson in the bio-play All the Way. In film, Cranston has won two Screen Actors Guild Awards and received an Academy Award nomination for his leading role in Trumbo (2015). Among his numerous television and film appearances, he was nominated for a Golden Globe and three Emmys for his portrayal of Hal in FOX’s Malcolm in the Middle.

Cranston is the author of a new memoir, A Life in Parts (2016), a coming-of-age story and a meditation on creativity and craft. It will be released in October 2016.
