Photo Gallery: 2014/15 WITS Anthology Book Launch

After spending a summer reading hundreds of poems, stories, comics and memoirs written by K-12 public school students who participated in Writers in the Schools during the 2014/15 school year, we were thrilled to celebrate the publication of our annual WITS anthology on September 28. Its title, No One Except the Hundred-Handed Trees, referenced the line of a poem written by View Ridge Elementary School student Graeme Richards, with WITS Writer-in-Residence Kathleen Flenniken. Richards began the night by reading his moving poem, “Paris, Le Canal Saint-Martin.” He was followed by over fifty students, whose work brought the audience of over 300 to laughter, tears and all emotions in between. After the reading, the authors signed copies of the anthology for their throngs of eager fans, over cupcakes from our generous friends at Cupcake Royale.
